“Potential evapotranspiration is a measure of the ability of the atmosphere to remove water through evapotranspiration and is the sum of two processes, evaporation and transpiration, which transfer water from the land surface to the atmosphere.”
Antonio Trabucco from CMCC, along with two fellow researchers, published a paper which describes the updated Version 3 of the “Global Aridity Index and Potential Evapotranspiration (ET0) Database” (Global-AI_PET_v3), which is based upon a fully parameterized geospatial implementation of the FAO-56 Penman-Monteith equation.
